The New Need for Speed: Shift

Electronic Arts (EA Games) had long been known as the company that released adrenaline rushed racing game. One of which was Need for Speed. Since its various releases way back in the 90’s, it had strongly stood its ground to be one of the most anticipated entertainment companies in terms of gaming experience. And just recently they had also invaded the different array of consoles. And Need for Speed truly is marketable. Just months ago, September 15 to be exact a brand new installment was made. It was then tagged, Need for Speed: Shift.

Perhaps at this point in time, you would be wondering, why Shift? Is this way different than its predecessors? Are there things that we need to look up and even anticipate? Together let us find out.

Need for Speed Shift is not just any game you would race to win. This actually delivers more. The view is like a simulation of the real thing. Undoubtedly, the environments are realistic so are the cars, gears and everything. It seems that EA’s tie up with Slightly Mad Studios had indeed proven a breakthrough in terms of innovation. They even made smart choices in choosing and deciding as to what aspects would be realistic and which ones shouldn’t. The controls may seem a little bit arcade-y but presentation wise it’s like driving in the real lanes of life. This in turn induces new players to that usual feel and easier game manipulation yet on a higher perspective.

Another feature that paves the bond of Need for Speed Shift is the inclusion of real tracks in the game. Perhaps you might recognize some world circuits like Brands Hatch, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Willow Springs and Donington Park National. These and more add up the 19 available tracks that you can unlock and use. They may not be 100% accurate in some of the details, but the course layout has been made intact and complete.

For the automobile fanatics, this new installment of Need for Speed would be something that you would love since car customization is so available. It not only limits you to choose a whole car for a specific race but also most part of it. Thus, you can be able to affect directly the car’s alignment, tires, brakes, aerodynamics, gears and differential. Much more the cars involved are fantastic and realistic.

Different modes are presented for the player’s total enjoyment. There’s quick race and career mode. Quick race allows you to set up races and drifting events. Career mode amounts to 150 and more events that are housed in competition circuits. You can then slowly move up the ladder to become a world class racer.

There are in fact many things that the new Need for Speed Shift can deliver you. These are but a handful of things that you can definitely anticipate. Much more, you are not only getting realistic racing but total game enjoyment as well.
